TOMS is putting shoes on needy children's feet. Merchants can sell things other than shoes. Manufacturers can produce things other than shoes. The economy of developing countries is not/should not be dependent on shoe production and sales.

Well, I don't know if I'd call it "running together" as much as "running in the same race". She usually places in her age group and I usually think, "I should have trained a bit more!".

But I look forward to seeing your video of your next race!

Good points! I especially noticed: (5) You can’t effectively make disciples w/ Sunday only church. MC’s are the primary vehicle for disciple making.(4) Mom/Dad are primary ministers to kids. And we should equip them. (3) Non-Christians know when you see them as a project. They should be objects of love instead of projects of evangelism. (2) Most groups seem to focus on knowing but need to work on the being/doing. (1) We can’t accomplish what God has called us to without the power of the Holy Spirit.

Good question. It didn't start to get really bothersome until the stretch on the two lane highway. There were no good options for sunglasses along TX 31 that I recognized. But as soon as it went bow the horizon my whole world changed.

I do not trust anyone easily so there is no reason why I should leave my laptop in coffee shop and visit the restroom. I would not give that look to anyone around. Even if I do not have a backpack, I will keep the laptop with me while visiting restroom and manage somehow!

Great points, Jenn. I'm not calling Tacoma ugly or anything, but this video made me want to visit there soon. And I know as well that life isn't as perfect and clean as this video made it out to be. I don't think "perfection" was the image they meant to portray, but I see what you mean.

And, yes, these guys are "all in". And it can happen and does happen. But I think these sorts of communities actually start there rather than a church decides to place some friends and friends of friends in a home together, shake them all up and perfect missional communities fall in place. It takes lots of intention, prayer, and buy in from all the people.

Good to hear from you. Hope yall are doing well.

Wow-this really moved me. This is what we attempt in our lifegroups, but are never able to achieve for many reasons. The scariest thing about this, for me, from experience, is that life isn't a beautifully shot film. The scenes in that looked picture perfect, but I know that people's lives are messy, and some people's lack of boundaries can be uncomfortable and overwhelming. Also, a church community has a hard time functioning like this because not everyone is devoted to doing this 100%. It seems like you'd have to be "all the way in" in order to be a part of a community like this. So-I love this, yet I am pessimistic that it can happen. I have experienced this in many small ways at our church though, and even though it's messy sometimes, it is a beautiful thing. God changes lives through relationships. We are called to be brave enough to jump in.
