I woke up this morning, left the house at 6:30 to go pick up breakfast for my meeting…and got to wear shorts! Wow…the calendar still tells me it’s Winter, but it feels like Spring. The sun came on out, the temp continued to rise. I came home for lunch and my daughter was in a perfect mood that makes me smile all the time. The NCAA tourney started today, and my Bulldogs tipoff tomorrow evening on their quest for the NCAA Title. My wife mowed the yard. Can it get any better?
Well, I guess if there was no bombing going on. On one hand, it almost seems a detatched reality. I think we in the U.S. have gotten so used to seeing fighting and war and other stuff on the nightly news that some of this we’re seeing on the news now isn’t hitting home as hard as it should. It amazes me that folks in other countries are getting more stirred up about it than the majority of the folks here stateside.
As I type my daughter is trying to set up a tea party for the two of us. She has no clue about what is going on in the world (although she does say “bak-et-ball” when I’m watching the tourney) and I wonder how much she’ll learn about these current events in her history classes one day.
You MADE your WIFE MOW the LAWN?!?!!? OmyFRIGGINgoodness!! Not to make light of the real situation goin on, but man, i'm suprised there's no war goin on at YOUR house… what a shame. The wife doesnt belong in the yard, she belongs in the kitchen, get it together….
In all seriousness though, it's a good point about us stateside. Life goes on over here, sure we listen to the radio a bit closer, but life mosey's right along for us. I personally stand behind the leadership of this country, and even though there are some anti-war things goin on, it's nothing like in other parts of the world, even in countries that aren't directly involved. Anyway, i dont have anything intelligent to say, just that i hope casualities on both sides are minimal and the liberation of Iraq is something that truly is on the mind of our leaders.
Blake, can you tell me please, as I am just a daft limey who doesnt know enough about collegiate sports, are Notre Dame still in? Or am I terribly showing myself up here?
Notre Dame won their first game yesterday by one point ( Game Recap ) but here’s a link where you can keep up specifically with NotreDame Notre Dame@ESPN . They play Illinois tomorrow (Saturday over here).
Thanks Blake!
