I’ve not been to a ton of concerts. More than some, but lots less than some of my friends. But I can say that a David Crowder Band concert is amazing to attend. He’s such a showman. He knows how to entertain. But he also knows how to bring you into the presence of the Lord.
DCB* is about to release a new CD from their Remedy Tour that has two handfuls of new songs in a live format. I’ll be getting it. You should too.
You can click “LISTEN” above and get a few samples of the songs. There is also a DVD if you like.
It seems they might try to sometimes. I don’t really know if it’s true or not. You could tell me they come in 2’s or 5’s and I could make it fit just as well most of the time.
But on the old (not ole, but old) iBook G4 I usually use the dc-in board had gone out. Don’t know what a dc-in board was? Me neither til I did some research. It’s a thing inside the computer that accepts the charge from your power cord and gives it to your battery. So no dc-in board, no workie. But I ordered a new used one off of eBay Monday. Should be here any day now. But then I’ll have wifi and be portable again. As it stands now I can actually get about 5 minutes of charge for every hour it’s plugged in.
Then the refrigerator started clicking and humming. Soon our ice cream was all melted and the Flavo-Ice was nothing but juice. Something was keeping the compressor from turning on. Turns out the fridge was still under warranty! So some nice guys from the University of South Panola came today and replaced a circuit board, plugged it back into a nice little whirl and hum of a compressor and were on their way. All it cost me was a handshake.
Then the check engine light came on last week in my Hoe (it’s what I call the Tahoe). Then things started shimmying and shaking a lot when driving. Turns out my plugs and wires needed replacing. I don’t know what that means, but it drives better now. Thought the light did come back on that tells me to service engine soon. Probably that O2 sensor. Blast it. And this cost me much more than a handshake.
So my fear now is that this postpones the purchase of a DSLR again. Drat!
So Wednesday night when a friend was at VBS with her Nikon D80, I was able to try it out. Liked it. I’d held one in the store before. And a friend in Clinton had had one and I snapped a few pics one time with theirs too. But this was the first time I was actually able to walk around with one for a bit. It further fueled my itch to get a DSLR soon.
But for some reason I keep looking at the Canon’s more. I really don’t think there’s a bad decision to be made. But the Canon 40D is where my heart is I think. It’s a touch heavier/bulkier than the Nikon D80, but is a step above better camera too I think.
If/when I take the dive, it will be with a bit of financial commitment, but I think I’m going to love it. I can spend hours on Flickr if I’m not careful. And I’ve found a few photography forums too. Great resources, all of them. And some great places to show off your work and get help and critiques .
It’s Sunday afternoon. I’m sitting on the couch with Ella watching Finding Nemo. Time to unload some stuff.
I think Pixar should make a squeal to Nemo. Call it Finding Coral. They’d get info that Marlin’s wife might still be alive and they have to find her.
Running at 3:30 in the afternoon is hot. I hope it make one tougher.
Burkley has been a good dog since the move to Oxford. I actually want to keep him.
Thursday night we went to eat w/ some friends in Tupelo. I graduated high school with them both. It was really good to share the evening with them. And our girls and their girls played well together. Found a lot of bugs in the back yard.
There were TONS of kids at church today. It was crazy. But crazy cool.
Does something happen to girls when they turn seven? It’s like an emotional roller coaster.
Oxford has lots and lots and lots of road construction going on around town. Frustrating sometimes.
My old church is in Costa Rica right now. I went the last three years. I miss it. A lot.
I missed the trip to BigStuf too. But everyone said it was both very fun and very impactful. That’s a great combo.
I’ve been watch The Office on DVD. It makes me laugh a lot.
Pixar is awesome.
I watched a lot of NBA Playoffs before the move. Now no cable = no NBA Finals. I think that’s why the Lakers are losing.
The Dentist in Finding Nemo just told his patient in the chair he had to go see a man about a wallaby.
Seven years ago yesterday we became the proud parents of a little girl. She’s shaped our lives in so many ways. And tonight we celebrated SEVEN YEARS!
After supper last night we went out for some dessert at Holli’s Sweet Tooth and then a walk around The Square. It was a great evening for a walk, and the girls had a good time [except when sitting with WF.] Watch the video below.
The last four days have been sorta crazy. But now I’m sitting in a dark room under a ceiling fan at peace.
Thursday: Talk to utility companies. Get things switched over. Get a big cashiers’ check from the bank. Do a final walk through. Buy a gift certificate for our realtor to a local restaurant. Buy a house. Unload a few things at my new house. Walk around it and realize that I finally have a house in Oxford. Go back to New Albany to watch the season finale of LOST.
Friday: The Wife leaves New Albany to go buy paint and start painting the new house. My stepmom and I load a horse trailer and flatbed trailer to the gills. My mother in law comes to help by talking on the cell phone for hours. Drive to Oxford and unload everything. The Wife has painted the great room already. Drive the trailers back for more the next day. Sleep well.
Saturday: Load up two big flatbed trailers again. Most everything fits. I have lots of help on Saturday. Drive to Oxford. Stuff everything in the garage. Meet neighbors. Put the mattresses on the floor and go to sleep.
Sunday: Drive 10 minutes to church instead of 40. Go eat lunch with friends (since I now don’t have to drive 40 minutes back home). Then come home to paint and arrange furniture. Rain comes. I like my street. More painting. Family supper at the table for the first time in this house (leftover “moving food”.) Tired. I lay in my backyard looking up at the stars for a few minutes. That was nice. Time for bed. Will only have to drive 10 min to work tomorrow.
Here’s a quick video of the house for you (RSS readers might need to go to my site to watch):
It’s eleven thirty. I’m about to go to bed. But yesterday I bought a house. We are now home owners in Oxford (or just outside of). So today I loaded up a whole bunch of stuff and took it over there. Tomorrow is more of the same. And some painting too.
This is where I’ve been living for the last five months. There are five of us and a dog in here now. I estimate it to be about 800 square feet. A space this size would go for about $300,000 in downtown San Francisco. But it’s quite different in Mississipi.
Pardon the messiness. But we’re packing up to move! We should be home owners tomorrow. We’re closing on a house in Oxford. Then we’ll be able to actually be a part of the community! And no more driving acorss Hwy 30 multiple times a day.
I know my wife may shoot me for how chaotic the house looks. But everyone was still asleep before I left this morning, and grabbed some quick vid.
