GMan's F7

And this week they’re on time! Here’s to GMan.

Here is this week’s questions.

1. When was the last time you moved?
December of ’01 we moved into the house we’re in now.

2. Have you ever been fired? How did you deal with it?
Nope. Thankfully.

3. What was the last April’s Fools joke you did?
Sad to say that I’ve not done one in a really long while.

4. What was the last thing you bought @ the bookstore?
Actually I bought some women’s workout magazine for my wife at the bookstore a few weeks ago.

5. What was the last TV show you saw?
I watched Survivor All Star last night

6. When was your last caffeine(sp) fix?
I don’t really go for caffeine fixes. But I did drink some Mt. Dew with my Subway wrap at lunch. But it came free with the meal. I would have had water or milk otherwise.

7. What is a cool catch phrase you been using with your students?
Me? Cool? Get real…heh heh.

A. How are things personally for you?
Been a little tired lately, but good. I need to be a little more organized, especially with the next two and a half weeks going to be bedlam.

B. Anything we can pray for?
Just focus in my attention on what I’ve been called and asked to do.

Friday Five 4.2.04

If you…

1. …owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
Chicken and burgers and milkshakes. I think it’d be awesome to own a little local joint with lots of local flavor to be a hangout for the teens in the area.

2. …owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
Books maybe? That or a gaming store.

3. …wrote a book, what genre would it be?
Sarcastic, reflective fiction.

4. …ran a school, what would you teach?
Some sort of technology. Would have to pony up on it first though.

5. …recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
Not sure, but no country and no salsa.

You know Spring is here when…

I enjoy the fall, when the leaves are turning and you can start to wear jeans and a longsleeve tshirt. When football games are all the rage, and you start thinking about camping out. I like winter okay. I just got back from Colorado where it can get quite cold (but wasn’t this trip) and I enjoy the snow and the fun you can have it in. But as it’s started getting a little warmer the past few weeks, I know w/o a doubt that I’m more of a warm weather guy.

So…. Top Ten Ways I Know Spring is Here in no particular order…
1. The Wife’s feet aren’t so cold in the bed at night.
2. I can leave the bathroom door open when I shower and not freeze.
3. My gold car looks yellow and my green car looks yellow (because of the pollen).
4. The Kid’s nose is running like a faucet.
5. People start trying to wear shorts too early and their legs are pasty white.
6. The lull at the gym after all the people with New Year’s resolutions left is ended by people trying to look good in a swimsuit.
7. The growl of lawnmowers.
8. Baseball at Dudy Noble.
9. MSU football fans start hoping for this years Spring Practice to actually improve the football team.
10. The mosquito hawks surround your door.

Back?

After trying to get a paper written, getting back in the swing of things here at home, and trying to sleep off that lack of sleep and bumps/bruises from the ski trip…I think I’m going to be back in the swing of things with the blogging.

But I’m realizing more and more that I have an achilles heel in my time management with things. Smaller things that I know are not as important get pushed to the front of the list because they “won’t take long at all” and end up being time suckers in my schedule. That and sometimes goofing off.

Copper Mountain '04, Day 1

We had a fantastic time in Colorado as we tore up Copper Mountain. I am going to try and give you a travel log of the trip, but I shift gears from short/consice to long winded and back too much, so I’ll leave a lot fo stuff in the extended entry sections. Click to read of in you want.

Day One

I’m sitting now on a new bus in the middle of Arkansas listening to Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry”. “New” because or old one had difficulties. Everything started out fine. Better than fine, actually. Everyone got to the church in plenty of time, no long Q&A time, and we left a little earlier than I anticipated. I thought we might end up making too good of time on the road. But I should have known better. We’d gone through Memphis and were approaching Little Rock. People were beginning to ask about supper plans. We were nearing some supper places about an hour up the road. All of a sudden a terrible racket happened on the right side of the bus. Bad noise around the wheel. I wondered if someone’s luggage had fallen out and gotten tangled up or something. But it was just a blowout. Two tires were gone. Shredded. What to do, what to do?

Our drivers called back to New Albany and they were going to get a service crew to come from LRock to fix our flats (shreds?) So in the mean time, we sit on the side of the interstate. After close to an hour, they figure out that we’re losing air pressure. My first thought is that this isn’t an airplane, but it had to do with the break lines. That can’t be fixed in a timely fashion. So we have to wait on another bus to take a 3-hour trip to get us. So we sit. And we sit and sit and sit. After about 30 minutes it felt like we’d been sitting for about 5 hours. The new bus finally got there and it was a better bus: bigger, nicer, and newer. Now I have a full two seats to myself instead of sitting w/ other people. Not that I don’t like sitting w/ other people, but I can’t sleep on a bus well to begin with, but I’m really uncomfortable trying to sit quietly while everyone else is asleep and I’m just sitting there.

So we’re on our way now. I think most people are asleep. No one’s had an official supper, though lots of people have snacked. We’ll stop at a service station somewhere up the road, but we have to really book it on the road. We have a 5:30 ski fitting time in Copper Mountain. We’ll see if we can make it or not. But that’s been the first ‘day’ of the trip so far. I can now see city lights all around me, but no real clue as to where I am. That’s probably better anyway, right now.

Copper Mountain – 2004 – Day One

I carried our youth group to Copper Mountain last week for a great time of skiing and boarding. I’ll try to give a travel log of it all, but I can go quickly between short and consice to long winded, so I’ll not fill up the front page with paragraph after paragraph of our trip. Click below if you want the extended entry…

Back now….

Pulled in from Colorado last night. It was a fantastic trip. There were 39 of us in all, and everyone had a great time, even the kid who broke his wrist.

I started trying to keep a journal while I was there to put on here, but I only made one entry. The rest of the time I was either on the slopes, sitting on my can, eating, or playing cards or something like that. But when I get a few minutes here and there, I’ll try and post a commentary on the trip.

One note: I tried snowboarding. And I’m a quiter. But I’m a better skier than I remembered! And I’ve got lots of pics too!

New addition to the BlogRoll

While perusing the internet yesterday I came across a new blog called YouthTech. It’s written by Mickey Mellen who’s working at a UMC in Dothan, AL as both a Asst. Youth Minister and the Tech guy around the church. Mickey had helped me a while back on some Dreamweaver issues and I’ve seen his work in creating/developing the Christian Guitar website that is a fantastic resource for Christian musicians.

His site is still finding its feet, but looks like it’s going to be a very regular read of mine. I’m somewhat of a computer tech wannabe now and then, so I’ll be able to glean info from him and look smart around other people! Plus, he’s been posting a good bit about MediaShout so far and I’ve been cutting my teeth on that lately too.

Check out Mickey and Youth Tech….you won’t be disappointed.
